Aboard USS Carl Vinson (Oct. 11, 2001) -- An F/A-18 "Hornet" prepares to launch from aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) with a 2000-pound Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) to be delivered during a strike over Afghanistan. The Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and its carrier airwing are conducting flight operations against terrorist training camps and military installations of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
